Just a reminder ..... Each manager is responsible for maintaining a scorebook at each game and for posting the game score and players present at the game on HomeTeamOn-Line for his team.   Per our rules, failure to post game score and players present within 3 days of the game will invalidate the players’ credit for participation and the victory if applicable.  Submitting false information on online postings HomeTeamsOnline),  including submitting names of players who were not present at the game, and/or changing earlier submissions to credit players for games where they were not present will result in automatic disqualification of  your team for playoff participation, subject to additional suspension or probation pending review by the division president.   It is up to managers to review the posting of the opposing team  for accuracy.

The scheduling for the 25+  through  52+ divisions is still in process.   We are aware of a few logistical problems on the schedule (teams scheduled 2 places at once) and we will be correcting those soon.  We are still waiting to hear from a few of our regular fields before we can finish up the schedule. The numbers added in front of your team names are temporary and just random numbers to facilitate transferring the schedule from paper to computer.  They will be removed once the complete schedule is posted.

The # of games being scheduled per division is as follows:

    18+    20 games
    25+    24 games
35+    22 games  (paying for 23 to cover double elimination playoffs)
    45+    24 games
    52+    15 games

The revised rules for the 2008 season are now posted online.  All players should review paying particular attention to section 13 on penalties near the end of the document which now includes a matrix of offenses and associated penalties.

We are pleased to announce that a new Umpire-in-Chief and an assistant have been selected to handle the recruitment, scheduling & management of the umpires for the 2008 season.  Please welcome Lin Hart Jr. and Kevin Lay.  More information on each can be found on the umpires' page

The annual league-wide meeting for players and managers was held Thursday, December 6th at St. Louis Community College at Meremac.  Many thanks to all of you who braved the first winter advisory rush hour of the year to join us!   Our division president positions were decided for the 2008 season and they are as follows:

    Jason Lohbeck - 18+
    Brian Simpson -  25+
    Mark Murphy -  35+
Paul Talaski -     45+ (wood only)
Steve Elfrink -    52+ (wood only)

The Board has determined that for the financial stability of the league, the league fees must be increased starting '08 from $115.63/game to $125/game.  In other words, if your team was  at $2775 for the season, you will be at $3000 in '08.  And if you played in the 20 game divisions, and your team was at $2313 you will now be at $2500.   Additional players over the 15-man roster will be $30/player.  These increases are necessary as we have not raised league fees over the last 2 years even though we have experienced increasing cost of fields, insurances, balls, and federal accounting requirements.  We will continue to try and find the best fields available and if you as players know of quality fields that you think you have an inside edge on one in particular, please let Jerry know and he will try and work something out.

It was announced that line-up cards are being replaced by mandatory HTO site game lineup posting for player playoff eligibility requirements.  This will be policed by opposing teams and at the January meeting, managers will decide on penalties to be imposed on any team found cheating.  At the January meeting, managers will also be asked to decide issues of number of games, competitive/recreational, playoff stucture, etc. for each division.

For the 2008 season ALL players will be required to submit a LEGIBLE (may need to enlarge) copy of their photo ID (drivers license) showing photo, name, address and birthdate.  Drivers license numbers can be blacked out.  Players contact forms will only be required for players who did not submit them to the league last year, so basically we only need them for new players (and only 1 per player even if playing on multiple teams).

Note:  If you would like to be added to our player the distribution list for league-wide emails,  please send email  with "ADD TO STLMSBL EMAIL LIST" in the subject line.  Also, if any of your contact information has CHANGED since last year please email & let us know (phone numbers, email or snail mail address) ... especially important if you have moved so that you continue to receive your Hardball Magazines.

On Saturday, September 29th, the 2007 Father/Son Game and All-Star Game were held at Sauget Field.  If you haven't had a chance to attend this event, or just haven't dragged yourself out to it, please keep it in mind for next year! It's really a nice day out, families get to see what your game days are all about, you get to visit with friends, teammates, family while enjoy food and drinks. It was great getting to see the fathers and sons out there in the Father/Son Game! We hope that the players enjoyed the opportunity to play as a family as much as we enjoyed watching them. It was a great game by all.

In the  All-Star Game, once again, the Experience [the old guys (38+/48+)], coached by Harris Gaynor, won out over the the Youth [the young guys (21+/28+)], coached by Tyler Bracken and  Mike Stewart.   However, it was a very competitive and interesting game this year with the final score of 8-7.(View 2007 Rosters) (View Photos) If you have photo's to add to our gallery, please email them to Linda Grubbs.

The purpose of the following disciplinary postings is not to embarrass or humiliate anyone, but rather to benefit all members (and spectators) of the league by encouraging players to conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner.  It appears to be working ... Let's strive for an even smaller list in 2008!

2008 Player & Manager Ejections & Disciplinary Actions ... clean slate ... let's see how long we can keep it that way!

2007 Player & Manager Ejections & Disciplinary Actions   14 actions taken  for league of 52 teams

2006 Player & Manager Ejections & Disciplinary Actions   18 actions taken for league of  42 teams

The Editors of Hardball Magazine have asked us to spread the word that  if anyone takes a good action shot this season, they should submit it to the magazine's back page photo contest.  They evidently don't get too many entries and the prize is $50 and a set of custom made Victory Custom Athletic pants (and photo on back page).

We have a new supply of the St. Louis MSBL league embroidered patches.    They can be purchased for only $2 each.   Please notify your manager & ask him to submit a quantity for your team so that we can minimize the administrative  time involved in payment and delivery.
